Everyone has to eat especially when fishing, looks like a strange shaped baby in the esky!

Another hard day at the office for Trev and Jason up at Weipa

Broglas flying overhead, back at Mareeba at our caravan . These birds fly off each morning and return after feeding all day.

A beautiful river on the Bloomfield Track - going from Cooktown to Cape Tribulation. The road is exactly that A TRACK!

Cooktown Museum - this building was built before the gold rush as a convent, it fell into disrepair and is now the museum. The bricks have been acid washed and reroofed but apart from that it is the original building ,absolutley beautiful.

Linda the "Croc lady" signing her book called "Paradise Found" that Jason and Kylie bought me for my birthday. It is all about Linda and her husband's adventures to the Cape years ago, they set up a T Shirt shop up the top. The shops are now in Cooktown and Cairns.

Cooktown

The wharf at Cooktown - we saw a young guy catch a barra right before our eyes, he filleted it on the fish table and off he went, leaving our mouths wide open and eyes starring. We have been fishing for a barra for months!!!

Cooktown Wharf

Trev's new boat coming in from a days fishing, yeh dream on buddy!

The old Laura Homestead- a cattle station during the gold rush - they lived in very harsh dry and hot conditions. There is a river just the other side of the homestead with a permanent waterhole if that is any consolation!

Lukin Creek

Carmel's birthday - at Lukin Creek campsite

Seisha

Boys jumping off the barge - as the men are trying to unload it!

Seisha Wharf

Unloading half a house from the barge at Seisha wharf

Cannons from WWII at Somerset at Cape York. Somerset was a cophra farm and also a cattle station but was never really suscessful.

CApe York

Driving out to Somerset - watching out for bush turkeys, wild pigs and cassowary, didn't actually see any this day!

Cape York - The Tip

Here we are at the most northern tip of Australia, it was high tide and water was splashing on the rocks behind us.

The remains of a DC3 up at The Cape York Penninsula. There were quite a few aircraft remains and thousands of rusty empty 44 gallon drums.

The damper is mixed and in the camp oven it is just a matter of drinking a cuppa and waiting - Trev is drinking beer out of the picture!

Old Telegraph Track - Cyprus Bridge Crosssing

Cyprus Crossing - "NO boys we are not crossing this bridge it is not safe and I'm not moving until you turn the cars around"

Going down into Sam Creek I was so scared I got out and did the photography

At last I got the camera but alas I was too late catch Trevor with his pants down (the waterfall looks tempting but it always catches everyone out the force of the water daks you)

Oh yes Trevor was taking photos, of course he didn't mean to snap this girl as she was getting out! at Eliot Twin Falls - as you can see it was a great spot.

Fruit Bat Falls - Jason and Carmel have a swim while Trevor is the photographer

A Pitcher plants - similiar to a venus fly trap, the plant has hairs slanting upwards and when the insect goes into the bottom of the plant for the watery nectar then it can't get back up and out falls to the bottom and is then ingested by the plant.

On the way to the tip - Cape York Penninsula

Trev and Jason fishing for mangoes, well when the fish aren't biting what else do you do?

Another beautiful creek we crossed on the way to the top

"Where to tomorrow Jason, this spot looks good"
Jason made a damper with sultanas and other dried fruit and yum it was delicious

Gunshot Creek - our first nights camp

Wenlock River

The sign in this tree reads "We were here in a boat in March 2003" The river was in full flood back then.

Telegraph Track

Just checking the creek before bath time - yes the water is slightly warm.

On the Old Telegraph Track

Oops just up the track and our first flat tyre of our holiday - guess it had to happen sooner or later. Jason the Weipa Welding shirt came in handy for Trev.

A frilled neck lizard, but he wouldn't show us his frill.

Jason caught a barra, just to show Trevor how it is done!

Sausage sizzle on the beach near Pennefather Bay

There are a few of these WWII planes that were landed on the beach north of Weipa, near Pennefather Bay.

Jason actually caught the live bait in the net and Trevor went on to catch 5 of these queenies, delicious on the barbie and more delicious when marinated in vinegar and Jasons secret recipe, and eaten the next day.
Jason (my nephew) casting the net for fish for tea.

One of the ore carrying trucks, boy are they big?

Customs boat coming into Weipa, it really is a big ocean to watch!

Weipa

A huge frangipani tree in Weipa, they have the most beautiful scent and are slightly different to the ones we have in the west.

Weipa

The road into Weipa runs past the wharf and we saw bauxite being loaded, the mine is what Weipa is all about.

Cape York - here we come

Taken from Bob's Lookout, north of Mt Carbine.

Cape York via Weipa

First stop on our way to Cape York via Weipa . We had stop and to have a cuppa at Musgrave Roadhouse and had the back of the car open, when a crew doing a Engel Fridge Road Trip ask to take a photo of our engel. The driver who was an Aussie took the photo and two of the Japanese men had flown in from Japan and Seki on the left lives in Perth. As most of you will know our daughter has taught english in Japan and has an E manuel to help people learn english, so I had a little chat!!! although Seki was the only one who could undersand me.

We didn't volunteer to feed the leopard his chicken drumsticks

Feeding the bears, twins brother and sister are fed their food in many ways - to keep them occupied, here it is in these tyres and it is 'stuck' in there with pieces of logs.

Feeding time at the zoo

Cairns Zoo

Trevor makes friends with a member of the zoo

Nicole and Aaron's wedding

Nicole and Aaron's wedding, held in a paddock at Maleny, overlooking the Glasshouse Mountains. It was a beautiful wedding, even though the weather was overcast the rain held off and the cow pads were very fresh!
