These magnetic ant hills are named because they generally face north south. This is due to the ants requiring heat during the wet season when everything is wet so the information boards explained.

Florence Falls, another swimming spot in the national park, it is fed by a natural spring that runs all year around.

Wangi Falls a lovely waterfall and swiming spot with a nice grassed area to have a picnic.

Litchfield National Park

Tin mine inside the national park, it was run for two years but was not viable due to seasonal weather and distance to transport bags of tin ore.

Variety Bashers from the Territory - The Gyspsie Witches at Arthur River Roadhouse. There was a war memorial, cementery and airforce base here from the second World War

This train was used in the film "We of the never never" Hot train driver!

Have I got the same pose or what?

Katherine Hot Springs

One of my favourite spots so far (have I said that before!)- Katherine hot springs, they where just near the caravan park we stayed at. Temp was just right Trev says I stayed in for two hours talking - doesn't sound like me at all.

Oops back in WA

Looking back at WA as we leave and head across the Northern Territory, I've never been up here before but Trevor has. He flew out of Darwin just before cyclone Tracey.

Lake Kununarra

On the trip back on the boat we went into a small lagoon and hundreds of bats dive down to the water, wet their chest and fly off again. Lucky for us the boat had a roof as the driver said it was not rain we could feel yuk!

Durack Homestead

This homewas dimantled because it was in the area that would become Lake Argyle when The Ord River was dammed. It was rebuilt in a safe area and is now a museum to the past, was very interesting being full of things used on the station in the early days.

Water coming out of the hydro power into the strat of Lake Kununarra

The dam wall viewed from the lookout

Lake Argyle

Looking at the dam wall that holds the water in the lake. This wall was all that was required to actually dam the Ord River and create Lake Argyle.

Lake Argyle

This is the boat we went on at Lake Argyle, it was most enjoyable and a very informative tour.

Emma Gorge first pool, it was afternoon so the light wasn't really good.

Emma Gorge Resort

A very nice (and green) resort with delicous coffee and cake.

Another photo of Zedebee Springs it was a beautiful spot, we spent quite a lot of time just relaxing in the warm water.

El Questro

Zebedee Hot Springs - a hot spring that runs down the slope of rocks into pools for about 30metres and then continues down the gorge.

Then the horses came for supper. I was teaching him to cross the road Always look to your right first!

Friendly donkeys come for tea - they had checked out our camp while we weren't there and eaten the mosquito coil and drunk our water out of the bucket, there were two of them

The pool on the way to El Questro main gorge, the water was very cold

El Questro Gorge walk

El Questro Gorge - walking into the gorge, oh so beautiful, very tropical cool and leafy

At El Questro Station we were lucky enough to get one of the private camp sites down on the river - our site was called Wren.

Free Parking everywhere but always on rocks, the car doesn't seem to mind

Bronco's Lookout

Trevor and Carmel at Brono's Lookout, fires in the background are the grasses on El Questro Station under control burning

The El Questro Homestead

We could only take photos as at approx $2000.00 a night it was just a little out of our budget!

Explosion Gorge

This gorge was named after the way they caught fish there in the past - by explosion!

Chamberlain Gorge

Boating at Chamberlain Gorge - the hire boats have an electric motor so they are very quiet, it is relaxing and peaceful on the water.

Pentacost River Camp

Returning back down to Pentacost River - we had a privae camp no one else turned up to camp that night. This is very unusual as the road is a buzz with traffic.

Miner's Pool

On the way backdown Kalumburu/Mitchell Falls road to Gibb River Road this is a camp spot near Drysdale River Station

Another beautiful photo

A spot of fishing for Trevor, I got to use the camera - not a bad shot for a beginner

Mac Gowan Island Beach

Kalumbaru - MacGowan Island Beach - its not an island but a point right up the top, just past Kalumbaru which is an Aborginal Mission. Absolutley beautiful all day and especially at sunset

Change rooms at Mitchell Falls
