Cherabin

Cherabin - caught somewhere in the great outgoors - they were delicious

Mary's Pool Camping spot

Carmel's afternoon tea visitors just leaving, I had been up the river taking photos and caught her out.

Fitzroy Lodge at Fitzroy Crossing

The Fitzroy Lodge/caravan park was an oasis in the desert. This photo is taken with Carmel's camera and doesn't do the place justice it was beautiful and green and a great place to stay. The park is behind this entrance and was terrific even a wash down area for caravans and cars, Trevor took full advantage of this, washing the van while Carmel did a little PR with anyone who would listen

Fitzroy River

Fitzroy River going across the Fitzroy Bridge

Snake Creek

Oh so that's why they call it Snake Creek. Trevor found this new shed skin next to where his car was parked - on my side!

Camballin

March Fly Glen

Our last campsite on the Gibb River Road was at March Fly Glen, before nightfall there were three other campers here with us.

Adcock Gorge

A very pretty spot on the way south from Mt Barnett

Manning Gorge

Looking away from where I was swimming to the right of the waterfall.

Manning Gorge

I did go swimming eventually and it was very refreshing. Trevor paddled but then someone has to take all these beautiful photos!

Manning Gorge

Finally we get to the gorge, it was very picturesque and as usual there were people swimming there.

Manning Gorge

This looking back across to the camp area, you put your camera, spare clothes etc in a foam eski and swim across to start the 1.5 hour walk to the gorge. It was too cold for us at 8.00am so Trev found the old track that went around the end of the pool and we only had to wade. On the way home we were more than happy to swim with the temp at 32 degrees.

This is looking up the lagoon where you swim across to start the walk to Manning Gorge.

Mt Barnett Roadhouse

They call this the wilderness - tourists lining up to get fuel at Mt Barnett Roadhouse.

Galvan's Gorge

Here is Carmel, she's not jumping into the water nor is she taking photos no she's doing what she does best - posing!

Galvan's Gorge

A man and his son jumping into the pool below, zoom in to the left and the Mum (wife) is sitting on top of the rock taking photos. This was only a short walk from the carpark on the Gibb River Road.

Bell's Gorge

Taken from the top of the gorge, looking down below to three more water falls

This is the waterfall, taken from above where the boys were swimming.

Bells Gorge

Looking down on Bells Gorge, these two guys swimming said the water was "a bit fresh". We felt it and thought it was freezing perhaps they were from Germany!

Bower birds nest of treasures

The green balls appear rather dark here, but does anyone know what they could be,this photo was taken at Winjana gorge and we didn't see anything like these green balls anywhere up the Gibb River Road, they were very hard and had a matt finish to them?

This is a bower birds nest just near the camp site at Winjana Gorge. Trev spied the bower bird and then it didn't him long to locate its nest. It was filled with white shells, plastic and some strange green glass looking balls.

Winjana Gorge

At last I found some friends to natter to who didn't run away! Trevor was soooo jealous

Winjana Gorge

The other end of Tunnel Creek

This is looking out from the far end of the tunnel and this is looking back at it.

Tunnel Creek - is under this mountain range

Winjana Gorge - Tunnel Creek

Tunnel Creek - this is taken half way through the tunnel where there had been a cave in, a lot of the time you wade through water. It truly is spectacular how the water has carved this tunnel under the mountain range. Next photo is of the mountain above this tunnel. It was awesome in the tunnel some parts you can be in total darkness, so important to take a bright torch!

Lennard River crossing camp site

Trevor photographed this crocodile opposite our camp site - lucky we were sleeping in our roof top tent! They are freshwater and not man eating.

Southern End of Gibb River Road

This is our first camp site up the Gibb River Road, you can just spy the camp - top left in the trees.

Derby

The boab prison we all learned about in school just outside of Derby.

Derby

This is longest cattle trough in the southern hemisphere.
This road train unloading zinc at the wharf. Truck and three trailers.

Derby

Next stop was Derby, sunset at the wharf. There had been a big fire and that is a smoke haze across the sun
We went walking up the river and came across this shack later we were told he had recently passed away. Thinking of putting in an offer hey kids which bedroom would you like, two upstairs and one down!

Telegraph Pool

Here I am toasting marshmellows while I wait for Trev's damper to cool. After tea we went down to the water's edge with the torch and counted six sets of reds eyes - crocadilleas

Telegraph Pool on the Fitzroy River

Our first effort at damper - not bad and it was very tasty, cheese on the top.

Telegraph Pool on the Fitzroy River

If you look hard just under the dead branch and to the left is a croc 99% under the water. It was good fun spotting the crocs as they came down the river. Wasting time yet again.

Telegraph Pool

Here I am hard at work at Telegraph Pool. Trev has lit the fire and now to cook tea! What will it be? decisions decisions? This is a great free camp spot on the way to Derby. We met Roz and Peter, they are from Colac in Victoria and enjoying the warmer weather here.

Sadly we say goodbye to Aaron and Michelle and of course their gorgeous dog Cougar, who I was scared of to start with but he had such a lovely nature, .we are off to Derby next.

Trev cooked tea - mud crabs and they were yummy. A little bigger than the blue swimmers and just as tasty. I only managed to eat these two - wanted to save some for later!

Back in Broome Trev went muddying with Aaron(our neighbour in Mandurah's brother)and they caught 10 which is the quota. They were so delicious.

Middle Lagoon on the west side of Cape Leveque, very big tides the water goes right out to the rocks on low tide. Trevor tried fishing here but it is best with a dinghy, toomany snags out there.

Djoodoom - Bully's Camp

Bully's camp was another bush camp overlooking the ocean on the east side of Cape Leveque point. Here I am at the fire pit/oven with my new friend. I managed to swap my steak for a muddy for tea.

Overlooking the aboriginal fish traps in the ocean. At high tide you can just make out the rocks around the edge of the trap.

Gambanan Campsite at One Arm Point

Gambanan bush camp seting up tent with water view's on both sides and islands to the north. It was a very pretty spot except the hike to the amentities - about a kilometre!

Cape Leveque

This photo doesn't do these luxury safari style tents justice, the view is stunning, over the beach.
